We are working on behalf of our client who is recruiting for a Finance & Accounts Officer to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a varied role covering accounts, payroll, HR administration, and general finance support. The role will be a FTC 12 - 15 month

About the Job

Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Process supplier invoices, staff expenses, and credit notes accurately and promptly

  • Maintain purchase and sales ledgers

  • Reconcile bank accounts, petty cash, and credit card statements

  • Complete daily cash allocations across all banks and currencies

  • Manage monthly billing including reconciliations and issuing invoices to customers

  • Assist with month-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations

  • Prepare monthly management accounts for smaller companies

  • Handle supplier and customer queries regarding invoices and payments

  • Support credit control by monitoring outstanding debts and chasing overdue payments

  • Manage staff onboarding and offboarding on the HR system, including provision/return of equipment

  • Ensure accurate PAYE filings, including HMRC and pension submissions

  • Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems

  • Provide ad-hoc administrative support, such as booking travel and ordering office equipment

Experience, Skills and Attributes

Essential:

  • Proven experience using Sage (or other recognised accounting software)

  • Prior experience in a finance or accounts environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines

Desirable:

  • AAT qualification (or equivalent), or currently studying towards one

  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles

  • Experience supporting month-end accounts
