Job summary

SMH Group is seeking an Accounts Apprentice to join our busy practice in Huddersfield. You will support the accounts team with bookkeeping, VAT returns and annual accounts, while beginning your AAT studies with dedicated study support.

Key tasks include handling post, phone calls, and general admin; learning from supervisors, and contributing to client service standards. Benefits include study support, holiday entitlement, life assurance and more.

Qualifications

• Studying towards AAT with commitment to completing the apprenticeship.
• Demonstrates high attention to detail and accuracy in financial tasks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including telephone manner.
• Able to prioritise, organise workload and manage confidential information.
• Willingness to learn, take direction and develop accounting skills.
• Good record-keeping and numerical ability with integrity.

Responsibilities

• Provide accounts and administrative support to a busy accountancy practice.
• Assist with preparation of annual accounts, VAT returns and bookkeeping.
• Support auditors and other staff with day-to-day tasks.
• Handle post, phone calls and general office duties as required.
• Participate in development activities and training opportunities.
• Help promote a professional image to clients and colleagues.
