Job summary

A quality training organization in Greater London is seeking an experienced Accounting Tutor to lead engaging training sessions and manage apprentices in their journey to success. Key duties include conducting training, assessing assignments, and maintaining records. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and proven experience in teaching and motivating learners. This role may require evening and weekend work occasionally.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an Accounting tutor, able to explain complex concepts.

Overview

The Training Place of Excellence is a non‑profit making organisation which focuses on offering quality Accountancy Training and other specialist training courses.

Duties
  • Carry out training sessions which engage and enthuse the learners using real‑life examples and up‑to‑date teaching methods
  • Teaching accounting courses, business administration and functional skills courses
  • Managing the apprentices on the apprenticeship programme, including meeting with them, reviewing their tasks, assisting with their portfolios and ensuring they are exam ready
  • Assess and mark assignments within strict deadlines and guidelines
  • Managing and supervising accounting tasks delivered by apprentices
  • Maintain student attendance records and grades
  • Multi‑tasking and working within a small team to ensure team objectives are met
  • Attend standardisation meetings along with all staff, Tutors, Assessors and Internal Verifiers
  • Ensure any changes to awarding bodies standards or new processes are implemented immediately
  • Assess and mark assignments within strict deadlines and guidelines
  • Maintain and update all relevant processes and ensure quality assurance levels are met
  • Carrying out general office and admin duties
  • Deliver short intensive courses as well as longer programmes up to a year. Some evening and weekend work may be required from time to time.
Skills and Experience Needed
  • Proven experience in a previous Accounting tutor role at all Levels and the ability to explain difficult concepts in an understanding way.
  • Experience in the Apprenticeship standards at all Levels and the End Point Assessment.
  • Practical experience in an accounting role.
  • Excel at training, engaging and motivating learners of all ages and backgrounds
  • A background in accountancy and qualified to AAT Technician level at minimum
  • A1 and teaching qualifications preferable
  • Experience in delivering Functional Skills trainings is preferred, but not essential
  • Excellent IT and communication skills with knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts and Excel
  • Ability to work in a small team, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines, a high level of commitment and absolute focus on quality of work.
