Job description

The Accounting Assistant will support the Accounting team in delivering accurate and timely financial information. This role plays a key part in ensuring the integrity of financial accounts across balance sheet items, equipment (new, used, and rental), parts and service operations, and operating expenses.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations for review.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly reporting packs and ad‑hoc financial analysis.
  • Input and review accounting journals in Blackline; support month‑end close processes.
  • Adjust DBS transaction registers and investigate discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with non‑finance teams to resolve commercial queries and provide accurate financial data.
  • Support the production of daily, weekly, and monthly KPIs.
  • Investigate operational activities and document financial procedures.
  • Ensure accurate accounting for Equipment, Parts, and Service transactions.
  • Monitor revenue and gross profit margins through detailed sales analysis.
  • Provide cover for other team members during holidays or absences.
Qualifications
  • Experience in a finance department or a recent graduate in a finance‑related field.
  • AAT qualified or currently studying towards ACCA/CIMA (intermediate level).
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
  • Working knowledge of SAP/finance systems. Experience using Blackline would be an advantage.
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to auditing and data analysis.
  • Ability to manage large volumes of data efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
