A leading utility provider in the North East of England seeks an experienced Accountant for the Pricing & Income team. This role involves monitoring income and cash collection, producing financial insights for decision-making, and supporting tariff modelling. Candidates should hold a relevant accounting qualification and have experience with financial systems. The position offers a hybrid working model and a competitive salary up to £54,000.
Accountant (Pricing & Income)
Full Time, Up to 23 months fixed term contract.
Salary: up to £54,000 depending on experience.
Location: Hybrid working between home and Northumbria House, Pity Me.
We are looking for an Accountant to join our Pricing & Income team at Northumbrian Water.
You will be responsible for the monitoring of income, cash collection and debt provisioning for the business, providing senior management with financial information to support business decisions and the tariff setting process.
You will support tariff income modelling, charge schemes and compliance, and contribute to a robust income and debtor forecasting methodology, linking operational metrics and cash flows to support proactive decisions.
Provide monthly commentary in a financial information form to support and provide insight to internal stakeholders of the financial position.
Contribute to the development of the bad debt provision and management information on debt collection, and support the ongoing development of the bad debt provisioning policy.
Responsible for production of income and debt elements of statutory, regulatory and group reporting in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
You will have proven experience in a financial environment and be a qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA). You should be able to demonstrate the ability to operate comfortably in the financial environment, analysing and interpreting financial information to resolve problems, deliver outputs and communicate information for decision‑making.
The successful candidate will also have a working knowledge of multi‑module financial systems, such as Oracle, and be proficient in Microsoft Excel. The ability to interrogate data warehouses to extract relevant data and to analyse, interpret and report on outputs is essential.
A completer‑finisher taking ownership of work, you will be adaptable to meet changing deadlines and priorities, develop relationships and gain credibility with stakeholders, and be prepared to both provide and receive appropriate challenge.
We are looking for someone who is self‑motivated and proactive, taking ownership and accountability for delivering outputs successfully, and can communicate effectively and confidently in a professional and confidential manner.
Please note this role will require a DBS to be completed prior to employment.
