Job description
  • Associate Accountant - Retail Property (IAS 17)
  • 6 month Day Rate Contract
  • Reading | Hybrid
  • Start date: ASAP
  • You must be eligible to work in the UK without the need for sponsorship

You will be responsible for accurate accounting of the monthly property costs for all of the company's retail stores, associated reporting & analysis, and balance sheet reconciliation. Once you have identified and understood the balance sheet variances, you will organise and run monthly meetings working closely with your stakeholder and the outsourced payments provider to agree an action plan to resolve these variances and common issues that have arisen.

Job Purpose

Support the delivery of an effective financial accounting, control and/or reporting service by conducting assigned financial analysis and reporting activities and tasks. Apply accounting principles and procedures to analyse and prepare accurate financial information and work with internal and external stakeholders effectively to support the achievement of business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Analysis: Apply established procedures to manage routine functional inquiries, ensuring accurate financial analysis.
  • Audit Support: Provide analytical support by conducting prescribed audit activities using existing procedures.
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Independently gather and analyze data using predetermined tools, methods, and formats.
  • Financial Accounting: Work with guidance to classify, measure, and record corporate transactions according to financial accounting principles.
  • Verbal Communication: Use clear and effective communication skills, with guidance, to express ideas, request actions, and develop plans or policies.
  • Process Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accounting processes.
  • Project Support: Assist the team in various one-off projects, contributing to broader business objectives.
  • Stakeholder Interaction: Work closely with budget holders in the commercial team, providing input and support during the budgeting process.
Experience
  • University (Degree) or Equivalent
  • Relevant financial qualifications- preferred
  • Experience working in an accounting function
  • Strong Excel & IT skills
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
