Overview

The British Virgin Islands Tourist Board & Film Commission (BVITBFC) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the financial operations of an organization dedicated to promoting the Virgin Islands as a premier tourism destination and thriving film hub. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the Board's financial integrity, accountability, and efficiency, contributing to our mission of excellence in service and development.

Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate, timely, and relevant recording, reporting and analysis of financial information.
  • Assist with monthly financial reporting.
  • Complete monthly bank examinations for discrepancies and reconcile general ledger inclusive of actioning stale cheques.
  • Review and post all capital projects expenses and prepare monthly capital projects reports.
  • Examine and post all expenditure for all overseas offices and agencies.
  • Assist with monitoring of all cash balances and preparation of weekly cash balance reports.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual internal and external audits.
  • Maintain inventory of all the board's assets.
  • Respond to queries posed by vendors and provide guidance to other accounting officers as appropriate.
  • Assist the Financial Comptroller with the preparation of budgets; research and compile appropriate documents, as necessary.
  • Perform any other related duties as required by immediate supervisor or member of the executive team.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
