Job summary

A leading financial services firm in the City of London is seeking an ACCA/ACA qualified accountant with experience in auditing and a strong understanding of accounting standards. Responsibilities include preparing budgets, managing client correspondence, conducting audits, and supporting junior team members. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in major accounting software and a background in finance or accounting. Job description
Responsibilities
  • Work with limited companies, LLPs, sole traders, partnerships, and pension schemes.
  • Complete planning sections in line with internal guidelines.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets.
  • Produce accounts from incomplete records or client trial balances (Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, etc.).
  • Liaise directly with clients and resolve queries.
  • Review work with a supervisor and finalise files, including reporting packs.
  • Conduct internal and external audits.
  • Manage planning, controls and risk assessments, and set materiality levels and sample sizes.
  • Perform fieldwork testing, including stocktake attendance and other on‑site verifications.
  • Carry out analytical reviews.
  • Complete audit files to required standards.
  • Prepare personal tax returns.
  • Prepare VAT returns.
  • Prepare corporation tax computations and returns.
  • Prepare P11Ds.
  • Undertake occasional advisory work.
  • Manage correspondence from clients.
  • Review the work of junior team members, resolve technical queries, and ensure files are complete before manager review.
  • Provide effective on‑the‑job training for semi‑seniors and juniors.
  • Maintain awareness of additional services that may be relevant to clients.
Qualifications
  • ACCA/ACA qualified (preferred).
  • Degree in accounting or finance (preferred).
  • At least 18 months' post‑qualification experience.
  • Strong and up‑to‑date knowledge of accounting standards.
  • Experience working with owner‑managed businesses across various industries.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, Sage Line 50, IRIS, CCH, VT Transactions, Xero, Virtual Cabinet, and QuickBooks.
