The Numbers Studio in Brighton is looking for an Accountant to own accounting and tax compliance for a portfolio of clients, working independently with accuracy and consistency. You will prepare accounts, corporation tax returns, VAT and self-assessment, deliver management accounts and collaborate with Finance Business Partners to provide a joined-up, high-quality client experience.

Qualifications

• AAT Level 4 qualification or ACA/ACCA in progress, or qualified by experience in accounts.
• Experience delivering accounts, tax compliance and management accounts in practice.
• Ability to manage a portfolio of clients and deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Attention to detail and well-documented work.
• Strong communication and commercial awareness.

Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for accounts, corporation tax returns, VAT returns and self-assessment returns for a portfolio of clients.
• Prepare and deliver management accounts for a portfolio of clients.
• Collaborate with Finance Business Partners to ensure high-quality service delivery.
• Keep control of tasks and deadlines, escalating issues when needed.
• Follow risk management and quality control procedures.
• Maintain high technical standards and feed back into processes.

Job description

We are looking for an Accountant to join our UK team and take ownership of accounting and tax compliance for a portfolio of clients. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working independently, values accuracy and consistency, and wants to be part of a practice that does things properly.

You’ll be the person clients and colleagues can rely on to get accounts, tax returns and management accounts done right and on time, working closely with our Finance Business Partners so clients always get a joined-up, high-quality experience.

The Role:

• Take full responsibility for accounts, corporation tax returns, VAT returns and self-assessment returns for a portfolio of clients, working without supervision and to a high standard
• Prepare and deliver management accounts for a portfolio of clients
• Collaborate closely with Finance Business Partners to support high-quality service delivery, onboarding and proactive communication
• Keep control of your tasks and deadlines, resolving blockers yourself and escalating issues when needed
• Follow the firm’s risk management and quality control procedures
• Work to a high technical standard, following internal processes and minimising rework
• Spot opportunities to improve our processes and feed into technical and client-focused feedback loops
• Keep up an active programme of Continued Professional Development (CPD)

About You:

• You may be AAT Level 4 qualified, studying ACA/ACCA or qualified by experience with a solid grounding in accounts, tax compliance and management accounts. What matters most to us is your accuracy, reliability and ability to manage a portfolio independently.
• Have strong experience delivering accounts, tax compliance and management accounts in practice
• Can manage a portfolio of clients and deadlines with minimal supervision
• Have a keen eye for detail and take pride in accurate, well-documented work
• Enjoy collaborating with colleagues to deliver a seamless client experience
• Have excellent communication skills
• Strong business and commercial awareness
