Job description

Edelman is a voice synonymous with trust, reimagining a future where the currency of communication is action. Our culture thrives on three promises: boldness is possibility, empathy is progress, and curiosity is momentum.

At Edelman, we understand diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) transform our colleagues, our company, our clients, and our communities. We are in relentless pursuit of an equitable and inspiring workplace that is respectful of all, reflects and represents the world in which we live, and fosters trust, collaboration and belonging.

About the Company

We are a leading global communications marketing firm helping business and organisations evolve, promote, and protect their brands and reputations. We are independent and family owned, which allows us the freedom to deliver original thinking and invest in our clients.

In the UK, there are more than 600 employees based in our offices in Victoria. We create award‑winning creative communication programmes for our clients who include Microsoft, Nissan, Unilever and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

We have deep expertise and advise on consumer trends, research, analytics and insights, corporate reputation, health, technology, capital markets, crisis, energy, and government affairs.

About the Team

We are London’s leading Corporate Reputation team. We create commercial value by delivering campaigns and advisory work for companies and brands that operate in the full glare of the public spotlight and whose reputations shape their businesses.

We have deep industry expertise and advise on integrated media strategy, digital and content production, crisis planning & response, litigation & legal affairs, employee engagement & advocacy, research & analytics, capital markets and government affairs.

The team includes more than 80 consultants specialising in all areas of corporate reputation and includes former journalists, senior in‑house practitioners, government advisors and industry specialists – as well as dedicated sector experts.

We take pride in delivering exceptional work for our clients, but at our core we are a non‑hierarchical team who like to spend time together in and out of the office. We are relentlessly collaborative, and supported by leadership who champion and celebrate our collective achievements.

The role

We are looking for an ambitious, proactive and motivated individual with solid PR and communications experience, able to lead day‑to‑day management of accounts. The Account Manager requires excellent writing and media handling skills, the ability to provide counsel to clients when developing stories or handling complex issues, liaise with journalists directly on stories, and coach junior team members. Ability to manage teams and workload is vital, as is project management, development of junior talent, and oversight of work quality.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the daily client contact and client lead when appropriate, earning the trust of clients through proactive counsel on new approaches or ideas.
  • Handle media relations, including story and message development, creating and driving outreach plans, speaking to journalists regularly to secure coverage/briefings, briefing spokespeople, and ongoing development of media contacts.
  • Play a key role in the research, planning and development of campaigns and drive them forward.
  • Oversee quality and operational performance of accounts, ensuring work quality and deadline adherence for junior team members, providing close coaching and development.
  • Produce content; write/edit press releases, social media content, articles, PR proposals.
  • Use AI or automation tools to assist in communications or campaign support (e.g. drafting content, analysing sentiment, compiling insights), with an understanding of compliance in regulated environments.
  • Provide support on new business pitches – research, slide development, process management including work‑back plans and managing junior teams’ input.
Key requirements
  • Desire to work as part of a large team in a busy, fast‑paced and highly motivated environment.
  • A deliver‑driven manager and creative problem solver who can confidently take responsibility of tasks and accounts.
  • Ability to service multiple clients and manage workload while coaching junior team members.
  • Team player who can manage up and down and take overall responsibility for day‑to‑day account activity.
  • Experience integrating and collaborating with different practices/teams on cross‑business work.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, ability to articulate with confidence and gravitas, and understanding of integrating earned, owned, paid and social media into holistic plans.
  • Ability to effectively use AI‑enhanced platforms to support campaign delivery, trend identification and content development.
  • Interest in current affairs, news, international business, and consumption of all media forms.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit – willingness to “get stuck in” and make the most of opportunities, and desire to share expertise and experience to enhance team work.
Benefits

Our benefits and policies are designed to ensure employees feel comfortable, inspired and equipped to thrive. We offer a wide range of benefits across health, family, community, finance and time away, including:

  • Competitive annual holiday plus an additional day for birthday and three days over the festive season.
  • Flexible working – hybrid policy and 30 days’ work from anywhere worldwide.
  • Financial wellbeing – pension plan, income protection and life insurance at 4× annual salary.
  • Building a family – maternity, adoption and shared parental leave up to five months on full company pay; company child and wedding gift; access to pregnancy and parenthood, menopause and fertility support via Peppy.
  • Health and wellbeing – private medical insurance, digital GP, wellbeing program, cycle‑to‑work scheme, subsidised corporate gym membership, quit‑smoking scheme, annual flu vaccinations and 24/7 access to trained professionals.
  • Personal and professional development – clear progression routes and continuous training via Edelman Learning Institute.
  • Community – weekly staff gatherings and citizenship activities paid for by us.
Our Values

Core to our culture are our values, which guide our behavior, support a client‑centric approach, influence the way we work together, with clients and community, and inspire great work.

The Relentless Pursuit of Excellence: Bringing the best of ourselves and partners to our clients.

The Freedom to be Constantly Curious: Tenacious, flexible and thorough approach that drives creativity and growth for clients and ourselves.

The Courage to do the Right Thing: Trusted and resilient partner, committed to building a diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce that prioritizes the wellbeing of ourselves and our colleagues.
