Job Title: Account Executive
Location: Shrewsbury - Hybrid
Salary: Starting at £35,000
We're recruiting an experienced Account Executive to manage a portfolio of clients in a regulated environment.
You’ll look after relationships end-to-end, handle all aspects of the account, and ensure a high standard of service and compliance at all times.
The role
- Manage and grow a portfolio of commercial clients
- Build strong, long-term relationships with new and existing clients
- Handle all aspects of account management: new business, renewals, mid-term adjustments and claims support
- Identify client needs and present clear recommendations and solutions
- Negotiate terms with insurers and partners to secure appropriate cover and competitive premiums
- Cross-sell additional products and services where appropriate
- Respond to queries and resolve any issues or complaints in line with company procedures
- Work towards agreed performance targets (new business, retention, cross-selling, profitability)
- Deliver an excellent level of customer service at all times
Compliance & administration
- Ensure all activity complies with FCA regulations and internal procedures
- Use checklists and support tools to evidence compliance
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic and paper records
- Prioritise and action client communications in a timely manner
- Check all client documentation thoroughly before it is issued
- Manage your own diary and follow up all outstanding actions by the required dates
- Report any potential data, security or compliance breaches to senior management
Training & development
- Take ownership of your own learning and meet Training & Competence (T&C) requirements
- Keep up to date with market conditions, products and regulatory changes
- Support and promote a Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) culture in all client dealings
What we're looking for
- Experience as an Account Executive, Account Handler or similar client-facing role
- Background working in a regulated environment (FCA or similar)
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
- Confident negotiator with the ability to assess risk and recommend suitable solutions
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Comfortable working to KPIs and targets
IT skills
- Confident user of MS Word, Outlook and Excel
- Experience with insurance broking systems such as SSP, Acturis or similar (or willing to learn)
- Accurate data input and record-keeping skills
