Job description

Fife Coast and Countryside Trust (FCCT) are seeking an Access and Recreation Manager to join our dynamic and effective Conservation and Engagement team.

Location:

The Pitcairn Centre, Moidart Drive, Glenrothes, KY7 6ET
Salary: £33,732.26 to £41,972.91
Hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent

About the role:

The Access and Recreation Manager will be placed within the Conservation and Engagement team. Leading a team of Access Officers and Countryside Wardens, they will oversee day to day management and responsible access at all FCCT sites in accordance with the Scottish Outdoor Access Code and support partner actions to ensure wider responsible access across Fife. They will also be responsible for identifying recreation opportunities and partnerships that may serve to grow FCCT’s revenues in support of sustainable countryside management in Fife.

About you:

We are looking for a decisive and organised individual to join our team. You will bring with you the following skills and experience:

  • Educated to SCQF level 8, which includes an HND or equivalent in a relevant subject.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 and how it affects access rights.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and manage a team, and achieve desired outcomes in an outdoor setting.
  • Able to work to a higher intent, work independently to achieve objectives, and be fully accountable for actions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and be diplomatic, but also assertive.
  • A good instinct for the right course of action when the answer is not obvious.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Good track record of collaborative working, developing and maintaining effective relationships.
  • High standard of communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the SOAC.
  • Demonstrable strategic project manager experience with ability to deliver projects on time and to budget.
  • Decisive and organised.
  • Diligent and conscientious work ethic.
  • Proactive and shows initiative, with ability to identify new opportunities.
  • Imaginative and bold. Not afraid to try new ideas and take calculated risks.
  • Someone who thinks to the finish and can see where success lies.
  • Experience of accessing and managing funds.
  • Experience of report writing and briefing stakeholders.
  • Excellent team player, able to put shared goals before self.
  • Persuasive and engaging communicator, both in written and verbal formats.
  • Diplomatic, flexible and empathetic to other views whilst able to get own opinions across.
