Job summary

Grimsby Town Football Club is seeking a full-time Academy Sports Scientist to lead the planning, delivery, and development of the Academy Sports Science programme. You will provide age-appropriate athletic development across Foundation to Professional Development Phases and work with coaches and the multidisciplinary team to enhance player performance, wellbeing and progression.

Requirements include a BSc (Hons) in Sports Science, FA Safeguarding, BFAS, and strong leadership plus excellent

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) in Sports Science required.
• FA Safeguarding Certification required.
• Basic BFAS First Aid for Sport certification required.
• Experience leading academy sports science programs.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Experience with PMA System and MS Office.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Full, clean driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and record anthropometric & physiological data for all Academy players.
• Plan and implement individual and group strength & conditioning sessions.
• Plan and implement testing and screening sessions for Academy players.
• Collaborate with the Senior Academy Physiotherapist for rehab sessions.
• Work with coaches and the multidisciplinary team to plan training.
• Provide athletic development profiles for all Academy players.
• Attend CPD for Academy Sports Science and Medicine staff.
• Attend management meetings and report on player performance and development.

Grimsby Town Football Club have an exciting opportunity for a full time Sports Scientist to support their Academy.

In this role you will lead the planning, delivery and continuous development of the Academy Sports Science programme, providing age-appropriate athletic development for players across the Foundation, Youth Development and Professional Development Phases. Working collaboratively with coaches and the multidisciplinary team, the role will support the physical development, performance, wellbeing and long-term progression of Academy players.

The main responsibilities in this role are;

• Monitor and record all anthropometric & physiological data for all Academy aged players.
• Planning and implementation of individual & group strength & conditioning sessions for all Academy players.
• Planning and implementation of individual group testing & screening sessions for all Academy players.
• Work in collaboration with the Senior Academy Physiotherapist to provide specific physical development training sessions for the rehabilitation of injured Academy players as and when necessary.
• Work collaboratively with coaches and the wider multidisciplinary team to support the planning and delivery of training sessions that optimise player development and performance
• Provide athletic development profiles for all Academy players.
• To attend and contribute to all In-service training and continual professional development (CPD) for Academy Sports Science and Medicine Staff.
• To attend and play an active role in regular Academy Management staff meetings, reporting on any issues across the phases including; player performance and development.

The successful candidate will have;

• BSc (Hons) Sports Science
• FA Safeguarding Certification
• Basic First Aid for Sport (BFAS)

In addition they will have the following knowledge, skills & experience;

• Strong Leadership and Management Skills.
• Excellent Communication Skills.
• Experience working with the Premier League PMA System.
• A working knowledge and understanding of professional football.
• Competence in all MS Office packages with experience of recording and reporting information.
• Experience of dealing with minors and an excellent understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures including the relevant clearances for individuals.
• An understanding of the EFL Youth Development rules and regulations.
• Previous Experience of Management within an Elite Sports Environment.
• A comprehensive understanding of the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP).
• Full clean driving license.
