Academic Mentor

Location: Manchester

Start date: Flexible

Contract: Full-time, part-time, temporary

Premier Education is seeking dedicated and ambitious Academic Mentors to provide personalised academic support and guidance to students across various subjects and secondary year groups. As an Academic Mentor, you will play a pivotal role in helping students reach their full potential, improve their study skills, and build confidence in their academic abilities. Michaela is keen to hear from English, Maths, Science and Psychology graduates.

These opportunities will particularly suit graduates from top universities looking to start teacher training programmes in 2026 or beyond.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions to students in need of academic assistance.

  • Support students in developing effective study habits, time management skills, and exam preparation strategies.

  • Offer tailored guidance based on the specific needs of each student, including subject-specific content and broader academic skills.

  • Monitor students’ progress, providing regular feedback to both students and parents/guardians.

  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.

  • Collaborate with other educators and academic staff to ensure a comprehensive approach to student development.

Candidate requirements
  • 2:1 or above in an academic subject from a top UK university

  • Recent tutoring experience is desirable

  • Confident personality

  • A reflective, enthusiastic, and adaptable approach to teaching

  • Excellent curriculum knowledge

  • Must hold (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS certificate and demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)

Pay

£88.92 - £110 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)
