Job summary

Thurston Community College is seeking an Academic Learning Mentor to support individual and small groups of students with special education needs, both in the classroom and one-to-one settings.

You will work closely with the SENCO to plan and deliver targeted interventions, develop your skills in Maths or social, emotional and mental health support, and contribute to wider college life through ongoing professional development and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting students with special education needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to develop expertise in Maths or SEL support.

Responsibilities

Job description

As an Academic Learning Mentor at Thurston Community College, you will join a skilled, friendly and caring team who work together to provide the best possible personalised support for students. Your main role will be to support individual and small groups of students with a variety of special education needs both within the classroom and one to one. You will work closely with SENCO to plan and deliver interventions to students with individual needs. We are especially keen to appoint colleagues who may have knowledge of, or a willingness to develop expertise in the areas of Maths or social emotional and mental health support.
