Job summary

London College of Contemporary Arts (LCCA) is part of Global University Systems and seeks an Academic Director of Teaching & Learning to provide senior academic leadership across weekend delivery and seven-day operations.

You will oversee learning, teaching and assessment, shape the college's academic strategy, ensure quality assurance and compliance, and manage partnerships with validating/awarding bodies (UCA and ULaw), reporting to College Deans.

Qualifications

• Higher degree in a relevant subject area or in higher education teaching.
• Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or higher, or equivalent professional recognition.
• Experience leading improvements through academic teams and working with validating/awarding bodies.
• Knowledge of OfS Conditions of Registration, QA frameworks and awarding body expectations.
• Strong organizational skills and commitment to inclusive, student-centred teaching.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior academic leadership across LCCA and weekend delivery.

About the role

As Academic Director of Teaching & Learning, you will provide senior academic leadership across LCCA, working collaboratively with College Deans, Academic Directors and academic colleagues to ensure students receive a high-quality, inclusive and engaging academic experience.

You will oversee and enhance learning, teaching and assessment practice, support the development and implementation of the College’s academic strategy, and contribute to quality assurance, regulatory compliance and student outcomes. You will also lead the operational management of LCCA’s academic partnerships with validating and awarding bodies, including the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) and the University of Law (ULaw).

This role will also provide senior academic leadership for weekend delivery, acting as the lead academic representative on site during Saturday and Sunday operations and ensuring academic quality, standards and the student experience are maintained across LCCA’s seven-day academic operation.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an experienced and credible academic leader with a strong track record in enhancing higher education teaching, assessment and curriculum practice. You will bring a higher degree in a relevant subject area or in higher education teaching, together with Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or higher, or equivalent professional recognition.

You will have experience of leading improvements through academic teams, fostering collaborative relationships, and working with validating, awarding or partner institutions. A strong understanding of OfS Conditions of Registration, higher education quality assurance frameworks and the expectations of awarding bodies will be essential.

You will be highly organised, resilient and confident operating in a fast-paced academic environment, with the ability to advise, influence and support colleagues effectively. Just as importantly, you will share LCCA’s commitment to inclusive, student-centred teaching and to improving outcomes for a diverse student community.

Working pattern

This role supports both the College’s academic partnership activity and its seven-day academic operation. The normal working pattern will include Saturday and Sunday, together with three additional weekdays to be agreed upon appointment in line with business requirements and individual circumstances.
