The Role
The purpose of this role is to provide assessment, academic, and administrative duties to support Aber Online, Aberystwyth University’s new fully online and asynchronous learning programme. With previous teaching experience commensurate with the grade, the successful candidate will have experience of university teaching, online teaching, or employment in the field of Education. With proven experience in your field, you will work with AU academic departments, the Aber Online team, and our partner Higher Ed Partners (HEP) to oversee the delivery of online course material while maintaining the closest relationship with our online learners as you guide them through their modules.
You will understand the needs of online learners and the need for online learners to continue their learning and continuous professional development in an asynchronous, fully online environment. You will be an effective communicator, with an ability to communicate with a range of international and domestic online students, through phone calls, video conferencing, email, and VLE forums. You will also need to communicate effectively with other Aber Online tutors, the Aber Online department, and wider AU staff and academic departments. The successful candidate will be able to draw on existing knowledge and experience of subject and will need to familiarise themselves with the online learning content and delivery through Canvas – Aber Online’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). You will be able to offer academic guidance to our online students, answer any queries related to academic content, mark summative and formative assessment, deliver weekly announcements and summaries; facilitate discussion forums, answering academic student queries, liaise with academic colleagues, and elevate issues where appropriate.
