Job summary

ERC Chartered Accountants is recruiting an Accounts Assistant Apprentice to support with various accounting tasks while working toward a Level 2 AAT apprenticeship at Wirral Metropolitan College. You will work 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 5.00pm, at 11-13 Hanover Street, Liverpool.

The apprenticeship combines on-the-job learning with college study. Wage ranges from £14,560 to £23,132.20 depending on age. Start date is Monday 16 November 2026 for a duration of 1 year 3 months.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or equivalent are required.
• Apprenticeship will provide Level 2 AAT training with Wirral Metropolitan College.
• Excellent communication, accuracy and organisational skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Booking in jobs, setting up accounts files and logging records.
• Requesting information from clients for accounts, VAT and bookkeeping.
• Prepare accounts for non-audit clients (limited companies, sole traders, partnerships, LLPs).
• Produce accounts on Taxcalc from manual and computerised records.
• Prepare accounts and working papers for manager review.
• Complete VAT returns and undertake bookkeeping using Xero.
• Carry out general office duties.
