Job summary

British Airways is hiring a First Officer to operate the A320 family from London Heathrow on short-haul routes. You will deliver safe, customer‑facing flights and develop toward captaincy while keeping a strong emphasis on CRM and safety standards.

You will be part of a professional crew, with opportunities to transfer to long‑haul fleets or take on training, recruitment, management and wider project roles over time.

Qualifications

• Current A320 type rating.
• Minimum 500 hours on A320 family.
• Recent experience: flew an A320 family aircraft within the last 12 months.
• ICAO English Level 6.
• UK Class 1 Medical with at least six months’ validity remaining on joining.
• Passport valid for at least 12 months.
• Water survival capability: swim 50 metres, tread water for three minutes.

Responsibilities

• Operate A320 family aircraft safely and efficiently in accordance with company SOPs and regulatory requirements.
• Deliver a calm, professional customer experience from gate to gate across a varied short-haul network.
• Exercise sound judgement and leadership in all phases of flight, supporting the Commander and flight deck team.
• Champion excellent CRM, threat and error management, and on-time performance.
• Uphold safety, security, uniform and service standards as an ambassador for the airline.
