Job Overview

Provide remote clinical assessments, onward referrals or home‑management advice using clinical decision support software and other IT systems for patients presenting to the 999 service. Support and coach Emergency Medical Advisors (EMAs) and dispatch teams within the EOC. Clinically assess, prioritise and manage incidents to ensure patient safety and appropriate allocation of resources.

Communicate effectively with patients, carers, colleagues and other healthcare professionals, using negotiation skills as required to coordinate the best care and facilitate referrals. Act as a point of clinical leadership and decision‑making within the EOC, including safeguarding and capacity/consent decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications & Experience
  • Experienced, compassionate clinicians at Band 5 level ready to progress to Band 6.
  • Demonstrated experience within the NHS or equivalent clinical setting.
  • Comfortable working within a virtual care model and using clinical decision‑support technology.
  • Willingness to complete full‑time training and mentoring programmes.
Additional Requirements
  • COVID‑19 vaccination required unless medically exempt.
  • Disclosed and Barring Service (DBS) check (basic, standard or enhanced depending on the role).
  • Must be over 18 years of age.
  • Willingness to travel between sites and hold suitable car insurance if required.
  • Commitment to a shift rota covering evenings, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Training Commitment
  • 8.5 weeks full‑time NHS Pathways 999 training.
  • 2 weeks NHSP training.
  • 1 week CAD training (Mon‑Fri).
  • 2 weeks EMA mentoring (shift work).
  • 1 week NHSP clinician training (Mon‑Fri).
  • 2 weeks additional mentoring (shift work).
