Job summary

HSBC's Engineering Internship in Sheffield invites students to develop engineering skills within the Global Chief Information Office. You will work with engineers on projects that support HSBC's digital-first approach and gain hands-on experience across modern development and operations.

Qualifications

• Be available to work full time for 8 weeks commencing June 2027
• Be expected to achieve a 2:1 degree classification or higher (or an overseas equivalent)
• Will have completed studies by 2028
• Be fluent in English
• Be able to work from the Sheffield office at least 3 days per week
• Be in the penultimate year of your undergraduate studies
• Legally permitted to work in the UK for the full duration of the programme and beyond the end date, without requiring HSBC visa sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Work with engineers and technology colleagues on projects that support HSBC's digital-first approach
• Develop new products and services, improve existing ones, and support software that keeps the business moving
• Get hands-on with coding frameworks, programming languages, AI tools and modern development/operations practices
• Participate in structured assessments aligned to securing a graduate role through tasks like project work and interviews
