Were looking for an enthusiastic and empathetic ActivityCoordinators to join our dynamic teams on our the medical wards at BarnsleyHospital NHS Foundation Trust, who will help to enhance the hospital experiencefor our patients.

The ward activity coordinatorwill contribute towards the ward enhancing patient wellbeing, supportingrecovery through therapeutic activities, and the prevention ofhospital-acquired deconditioning by promoting physical activity, mentalstimulation, and meaningful engagement throughout their stay.

Main duties of the job

As an activity coordinator, you'll play a key role inenriching the daily lives of patients by delivering meaningful, therapeuticactivities that support both mental and physical wellbeing. Working closelywith the multidisciplinary team, you'll contribute to reducinghospital-acquired deconditioning by encouraging movement, engagement, andsocial interaction throughout the patients. The activity coordinatorwill:

  • Plan and facilitate dailyactivities such as arts and crafts, music sessions, quizzes, games, andgentle movement
  • Organise themed events,seasonal celebrations, and therapeutic group sessions
  • Provide one-to-oneengagement for patients who may be isolated or unable to join groupactivities
  • Collaborate with clinicalteams to ensure activities align with care plans and recovery goals
  • Encourage patientparticipation to boost morale, reduce anxiety, and promote socialinteraction
  • Monitor and evaluate theimpact of activities on patient wellbeing
  • Gather information aboutpatients to support in the planning of patient activities.
  • Collaborate with clinicalteams, including registered nurses, care support workers and therapies, toensite that activities align with care plans and recovery goals.
