A leading healthcare provider is seeking a motivated Hepatology HCA / Fibroscan Technician to join their team. This role involves responsibilities like conducting fibro scans and assisting a multi-disciplinary team in Barnsley. Candidates should possess at least 4 GCSEs, have NVQ Level 3 or be willing to work towards it, and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. The position offers a full-time contract, Monday to Friday, while contributing to patient care in a busy gastrointestinal service.
An exciting and new opportunity has arisen withinHepatology at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for a highly motivated andenthusiastic Hepatology HCA / Fibroscan Technician to help pioneer the deliveryof health improvement interventions with people whose liver health may becompromised.
The newly created role is an intergral part of theHepatology service in Barnsley and we are looking for an individual with an interestin working in a busy Gastroenterology service running the fibro-scanningclinics, speaking to patients over the phone and with some administrationduties, working alongside and with the support of the Liver specialist Nurseteam.
A Fibro-scan is a simple non-invasive test, it is aportable machine which is used to assess the degree of scarring in the liver.
The post is a permanent full time band 3 working Monday to Friday.
This is is a Health care assistant role within thespeciality team of Hepatology to assist in providing specific duties which willinclude:-
Responsible for fibro scanning patientsreferred by members of the multi-disciplinary team
Provide fibro scans adopting standard protocolsand in line with Trust policies and operational guidelines.
Ensure that equipment is prepared adequatelyprior to the procedure and to carry out fibro scans in a safe environment, responsiblefor assisting with the maintenance of the Fibroscan machine includingcalibration as per manufacturers safety guidelines.
Communicate effectively with patients andfamily members, ensuring the procedure is explained fully, any questions areanswered, and verbal consent is obtained.
Support for the liver surveillance programme
Administration duties including speaking topatients via telephone and data collection.
Formaltraining and industry delivery certification will be provided for thesuccessful candidate.
Explanationof results to patients is not expected of this role
