Job description

400kV SAP needed for a Major Offshore Wind project in the United Kingdom.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement and ensure compliance with Electrical Safety Rules on site.
  • Act as Senior Authorised Person for HV/MV/LV systems.
  • Plan, manage, prepare, and execute electrical works offshore.
  • Provide operational advice on high-voltage installations including WTG, offshore substations, and HV cables.
  • Oversee safe commissioning of grid connections, substations, and associated MV/HV/LV equipment.
  • Ensure safety, security, and integrity of the HV network.
  • Coordinate MV/HV/LV commissioning activities during all construction phases.
  • Take operational responsibility for an entire offshore substation.
  • Manage outage planning and network control in collaboration with Control Engineers.
  • Prepare, review, and check high-voltage switching schedules.
  • Update MV/HV/LV schematic diagrams and ensure documentation accuracy.
  • Conduct site inspections, safety audits, and worksite assessments for electrical matters.
  • Coordinate with project management to communicate accurate progress updates.
  • Manage and coordinate HV/MV/LV commissioning activities across the project.
  • Liaise with external grid operators and participate in commissioning panel meetings.
  • Review method statements relating to electrical tasks.
  • Deliver technical advice and engineering support to working parties.
  • Participate in FAT and SAT testing and provide related reports.
  • Contribute to commissioning manuals, quality plans, and technical documents.
  • Plan resources, work activities, and switching programs.
  • Lead toolbox talks and safety briefings.
  • Perform pre- and post-energization checks across the wind farm.
  • Establish grounding, isolation zones, and worksite demarcation.
  • Act as a Training Mentor and support staff authorizations and assessments.
  • Carry out project-related administrative tasks.
  • Use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) for reporting and communication.
  • Participate in both offshore and onshore work rotations if required.
  • Be available for on-call responsibilities during certain work tasks.
  • Work in adverse conditions or emergency scenarios when required.
Requirements:
  • Appropriate electrical qualification relevant to HV authorization (SAP level).
  • Several years of experience in high-voltage operations and commissioning (400 kV).
  • Offshore experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working with onshore substation systems.
  • Strong understanding of MV/HV/LV systems, switching, and commissioning.
  • Up-to-date GWO and HUET with CA-EBS (as required by site).
  • Able to meet offshore climbing gear weight limits (maximum 120 kg / 264 lb).
  • Able to work a 14/14 offshore rotation.
  • Capable of working in adverse weather and emergency environments.
  • Must provide own iPhone compatible with required security software.
  • Must allow installation of mandatory security management applications on any personal mobile device used for work.
  • Must bring personal work clothing and offshore safety boots (additional PPE provided onsite).
