Job description
Overview:

A leading secure IT provider is seeking a motivated and ambitious 3rd Line Core Engineer (Grade 11) to join a highly secure Basingstoke-based environment. This role is an excellent entry point into 3rd line engineering, offering hands‑on training, clear progression, and exposure to a wide range of core infrastructure technologies. You'll work within a skilled team while gaining strong operational experience and developing your technical capability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily infrastructure checks, incident management, triage, and escalation
  • Support a high‑profile user community with regular customer and stakeholder interaction
  • Work with ITSM tools to manage the full incident life cycle
  • Contribute to operational readiness reviews and service release support
  • Support project activity including hardware builds and configuration
  • Carry out hands‑on Windows Server and Active Directory tasks
  • Utilise event management and monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, SCOM, MECM/SCCM, Active Directory, SQL, vCentre, and Trelix (McAfee)
  • Receive structured training across monitoring platforms and tooling environments
Environment & Clearance:

This position sits within one of the UK's most secure operational environments. DV clearance is essential. Full sponsorship is available for candidates not currently holding DV clearance; however, employment can only begin once clearance has been fully approved.

  • Fully on‑site initially
  • No phones or corporate laptops permitted on the secure floor
Progression & Development:
  • Ideal for candidates early in their 3rd line journey
  • Strong cross‑training with Grade 11 and Grade 12 engineers
  • Clear progression path from Grade 11 to Grade 12
  • Supportive team culture with structured development
  • Once established, working pattern becomes split: ~50% at the secure site and ~50% at the standard Basingstoke office
