Job description

Select arerecruiting for an accomplished CAD Designer with 3D expertise to join our thriving, expanding manufacturing client based in Norwich. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a forward‑thinking business that's experiencing significant growth – they're planning to double their turnover and workforce over the next two years.

The Role in Detail

You'll be designing custom product solutions using CAD software in both 2D and 3D formats for production in their on‑site manufacturing facility. Working closely with customers, you'll develop design solutions in accordance with agreed design principles and procedures. Your 3D images and detailed drawings will support customer proposals and help develop new product ranges.

You'll work 9am‑6pm, Monday to Friday (with a 1pm‑1.30pm lunch break), with hours regularly extended during winter months and potentially reduced during summer. You'll carry out direct sales activities from customer enquiries, liaising directly with customers and suppliers establish requirements and develop design solutions, including occasional off‑site visits to assess requirements firsthand. You'll raise and communicate product quotations and maintain excellent customer service at all times.

About You
  • Excellent knowledge of 3D CAD software and working knowledge of AutoCAD 2D
  • A methodical and logical approach with strong technical aptitude and problem‑solving ability
  • Engineering background or equivalent experience (preferred but not essential)
  • Strong communication skills – able to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Understanding of design and engineering principles
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple projects
  • Proficiency with Microsoft packages (Excel, Word, Internet, email)
  • A mature, credible approach comfortable dealing with colleagues, suppliers and customers
  • Adaptability, reliability, tolerance and determination
  • Self‑driven with a positive outlook and clear focus on quality and business success
  • Ability to travel occasionally to customers within and outside the UK
  • Flexible approach to working hours and willingness to work extended hours when required
  • Clean or near‑clean driving licence
