A leading multi‑utility infrastructure provider is seeking a skilled and motivated 33kV Electrical Engineer to take a lead role in the design and delivery of high‑voltage distribution networks across the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on cutting‑edge projects in the renewable energy, utilities, data centre, and battery storage sectors.
You'll be responsible for managing projects from early‑stage design through to delivery and commissioning, with the autonomy to shape technical solutions and mentor junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Technical Leadership
- Lead the electrical design of 33kV networks for solar farms, wind farms, BESS, and data centres
- Produce and review single‑line diagrams, cable sizing, protection schemes, and earthing designs
- Develop grid connection applications and liaise with DNOs, IDNOs, consultants, and contractors
- Ensure compliance with G99/G100, ENA standards, BS7671, and relevant IEC regulations
- Support HV equipment specification, procurement, and FAT/SAT processes
Project Delivery
- Oversee project execution from pre‑construction through to final commissioning
- Coordinate with internal teams, third‑party contractors, and suppliers
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and risk registers
- Conduct site visits, chair progress meetings, and ensure QA/QC standards are met
- Maintain HSE compliance and manage stakeholder relationships throughout the lifecycle
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 5 years' experience in 33kV HV design and/or project engineering
- Strong background in utility‑scale renewables or high‑demand infrastructure
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant design software
- Solid understanding of UK grid connection processes and technical standards
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Willingness to travel to project sites across the UK
- Project Management certification (desirable)
- Experience with HV switchgear, protection relays, SCADA integration (desirable)
