A government agency in Exeter is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead innovative projects focused on reducing flood risk and enhancing the environment across the southwest. The ideal candidate will have a degree in a related field, over 8 years of relevant experience, and a strong ability to mentor team members while fostering collaborative working relationships. We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead and deliver exciting, innovative projects that reduce the risk of flooding to communities and enhance the environment across the southwest.
This role sits in Project and Programme Delivery (PPD) and is a senior position within our integrated project team. You will take responsibility for the delivery of projects in your portfolio from initial strategic planning, through to feasibility, detailed design, construction and handover. You will mentor and coach project team members, flexing your involvement to suit the strength of the team. You will be responsible for financial management and delivering results on time.
You will build a great working environment with high performing teams including our suppliers, client representatives, technical specialists and other partners. Applying your strong commercial acumen in project, contract and risk management, you will establish effective relationships, facilitating collaborative and efficient ways of working. You will make key project decisions informed by technical leads whilst following governance procedures, project assurance and legislation.
The ability to develop a resilient network of relationships with stakeholders such as statutory authorities, landowners and local communities to negotiate agreements, consents, approvals and external funding is crucial.

We are Project and Programme Delivery (PPD), part of the Environment Agency’s Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) directorate. The team is comprised of over 80 project delivery professionals working across the southwest.
Our team provides the Environment Agency with effective project and programme management capability, managing projects throughout their lifecycle, delivering flood risk management, environmental improvements and shared ownership with local communities.
