An exciting opportunity hasarisen for an Environment Coordinator to join Ward 30 in Barnsley Hospital.

We are looking for anenthusiastic person with excellent organisational skills to join our team. Themain focus of this role is to maintain a pleasant and welcoming environment forpatients and families by ensuring the unit is kept clean, tidy and well stocked. The role also involves the management of the safe use of daily equipment onalongside the nursing team.

The main duties of Environmentcoordinator is to work as an integral part of the ward team ensuring a highquality service and environment to patients and liaise with other departmentsuch as cleaning coordinators, nursing team, estate in doing so.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work under the direction and guidance of the person with continuing responsibility.

Undertaking daily, weekly, and monthly checks for allStandard Operational Procedures (SOPs) that do not require a Registered Nurseto undertake.

Documenting that SOPs have been checked by signing the ward file.

Dealing with any issues that arise from SOPs checks.

Maintaining the SOPs file in good order, including the safe custody of completed sheets.

Undertaking checks relating to FireManual (after appropriate Fire Marshall training).

Reporting any faults at ward level e.g. broken toilet seats, beds, blinds/curtains etc and progress chasing any reported items via electronic systems.

Ensuring the ongoing cleanliness of the ward in conjunction with the ward team, including liaising with domestic staff, Infection control team and other members of the MDT where appropriate.

Ensuring that the patient bed areas isclean and tidy following discharge, including safe disposal of any consumables in line with Trust policies and procedures.

Ensuring that bed area is restocked as appropriate for the next patient.

Using the Infection control guidelines to follow a proactive approach in the compliance of appropriate and relevant carepathways.

Undertaking regular audits in line with infection control prevention
