Job description

As one of our Nurses nears her maternity leave, we have begun the search for a 2nd year SVN or recently qualified RVN to join us at Basildon Pitsea Vets for Pets on a temporary basis!

This role is perfect if you're looking for hands on experience within a supportive practice who have a great record of growing Nurses into their careers.

We are a busy 24-hour hospital with multiple advanced facilities including in house CT, MRI, hydrotherapy and physiotherapy. We offer emergency cover for several local clinics, so we do see a high case load of emergency and critical care cases. We also conduct a wide range of soft tissue & orthopaedic surgeries. We have cat, dog and exotic wards as well as outpatients and isolation units, we also have dedicated dental area with dental x-ray. We are very passionate about pain control and anaesthesia including regional anaesthesia and are currently working towards our zero-pain practice accreditation.

Education and support for our team is important to us. We regularly offer EMS placements and are a veterinary nursing training practice. It's important to us that all our colleagues work together to provide a supportive learning environment for all members of our team.

You'll be joining a hard-working and inclusive team who are passionate about being at the heart of the local community. We have a fantastic non-clinical team to support the client journey, freeing up our Nurses to carry out their roles effectively.

We are looking for a 2nd year SVN or recently qualified RVN with excellent communication and organisation skills and who takes pride in working to a high standard. The key to your success will be your ability to embrace all aspects of the Veterinary Nurse role, delivering excellent patient and client care.

This position is full-time working 40 hours per week with 1 in 4 weekends. The role is fixed term for 12 months with the potential to extend.

In addition to a competitive salary (dependant on experience), we offer all the benefits you'd expect from a major employer (pension, healthcare, paid memberships etc.) plus a few more, such as excellent career progression, exclusive lifestyle and shopping discounts (up to 20% off at Pets at Home).
