Overview

As our 2nd Line Infrastructure Engineer, you'll assist the business in providing any IT infrastructure requirements for new and existing services and provide ongoing support and maintenance to ensure the continuation of them.

Travel & Working Conditions

Whilst most of the work can and will be done remotely. There is an expectation for the successful candidate to travel to site three to four times a month, with a minimum of twice a month for face‑to‑face meetings, although flexibility is a must. Flexible working hours will be required due to system upgrades which are often performed outside of business working hours.

Responsibilities
  • Understand and be aware of the risk and control environment in your area of the business and adhere to processes, procedures and policies to minimise risks.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to a supportive and collaborative culture which promotes strong working relationships across CITO teams and the wider business.
  • Ensuring all activities are undertaken in consideration of and in line with Technology and CBS Strategies.
  • Support and assist the First Line Engineers.
  • Test, install, maintain, upgrade and continuously improve infrastructure hardware and software.
  • Ensure the technology infrastructure systems operate efficiently in accordance to agreed service availability metrics.
  • Ensuring software is kept up to date and aligned with software patching policy.
  • Input into and maintain a standard library of documentation and procedures.
  • Ensure adequate backups are taken and maintained in accordance with documented operational reliance recovery timescales.
  • Management of service desk requests.
  • Deal with escalations in a timely manner and joining incident bridges.
  • Identify and manage risks.
  • Work alongside other technology teams on problems and incidents collaborating to improve services.
  • Work with Service Assurance on PIRs and provide technical assistance and support.
  • Assist with project workstreams and BAU tasks where required.
  • Out of hours on‑call for critical systems is a requirement for this role in‑line with the Working Practice Charter.
Qualifications & Experience
  • You’ll have 3+ years' experience of working within a Technology Infrastructure Engineer role or similar.>
  • ITIL v4 Foundation would be highly desirable.
  • A keen interest & understanding of infrastructure technologies is advantageous. Training and relevant certification would be provided.
