Join our dedicated Pharmacy & Medicines team and play a key role in delivering high-quality service to patients in NHS Lothian. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic pharmacist to contribute to clinical pharmacy service delivery across surgical, women's and children's specialities based at St John's Hospital in Livingston.
This is an opportunity to work as a team of pharmacists providing specialist clinical pharmacy service to our Surgical and Women's and Children's wards.
Surgery at St John's Hospital provides specialist regional services for ENT, Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery, including Burns patients. Our 24 hour stay surgical unit undertakes a high volume of elective surgical procedures across 4 additional specialities: urology, colorectal, general surgery and orthopaedics. The post holder will also be trained on our intensive care unit.
St John's delivers gynaecology and perinatal services for West Lothian. We have a general paediatric ward providing inpatient care alongside elective paediatric surgeries, medical day care and medical investigations. In addition we support neonatal services via our Special Care Baby Unit, which is closely aligned to neonatal services in Edinburgh.
The post holder will be able to expand their specialist knowledge and develop their skills in service development, staff management, training and education. This dynamic role will allow the post holder to be supported through cross-professional collaboration to work towards/achieve core advanced pharmacist credentials.
The post holder will contribute to the development and delivery of the clinical pharmacy service.

As from 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
