Are you an experienced pharmacy technician ready to take the next step in your career by joining a dynamic and pro-active pharmacy team?

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated pharmacy technician to join the pharmacy dispensary technical team. The post holder will be working in the Dispensary at The Royal Edinburgh Hospital, supporting the pharmacy team with the safe and effective supply of medicine to patient groups within The Royal Edinburgh Hospital and Associated Services and specialising in the provision of mental health care. The dispensary delivers high quality, patient-centred care across acute psychiatric and mental health services, including the treatment of individuals with learning disabilities, dementia and the management of young people’s mental health.

About the Role

This post is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacy technician looking to specialise or advance in areas of dispensing practice as a Pharmacy Technician, Higher Level.

  • Play a key role in the pharmaceutical care of patients.
  • Collaborate closely with the pharmacy team and wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) to optimise patients’ medicines and care.
  • Support and develop other members of the pharmacy team.
  • Benefit from opportunities for service improvement, delivery of education and training and other personal and professional development initiatives.

About you

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • National Certificate in Pharmacy Services or equivalent
  • Scottish Vocational Qualification Level 3 in Pharmacy Services
  • HN Unit: Procedures for Pharmacy Dispensary Checking Technicians or Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician Award (provided by Buttercups or NPA, 2019 or before)
  • Has an HNC in Pharmacy Services Development and Management or equivalent experience. Any applicant who does not hold the HNC in Pharmacy Services Development and Management MUST complete the Band 5 Pharmacy Technician Higher Level HNC Equivalence Mapping Assessment Form and submit it with the application as a supporting document.
