Job summary

Howden in Guildford is recruiting a 2027 Graduate Trainee Actuarial Consultant – Retirement to join our actuarial and employer consulting teams. You will gain early client exposure and structured study support while developing technical, analytical and communication skills.

We welcome graduates with a 2:1 degree, strong maths ability at A-Level/Higher and English at GCSE Level 6, and the right to work in the UK. The programme offers comprehensive training, mentoring and career progression.

Whatyou’ll bedoing?

Allofour graduates get early opportunities to work directly with clients and plenty of training to develop their technical, communication and problem-solving skills. Some of the tasks you can get involved in as a Trainee Actuarial Consultant working across our Actuarial and Employer Consulting teams include:

1) A variety of actuarial services to defined benefit pension schemes, such as:

• actuarial calculations
• processing andvalidatingdata for actuarial valuations
• working with consultants to assess theobjectivesand requirements of clients
• preparing draft client reports and advice
• attending client meetings and taking an active role in presentations

2) Supporting our corporate team on a wide range of areas.

3) Opportunities to be involved in building up our capabilities in other exciting areas of the firm.

Our trainee consultants develop a broad, transferable skillset which covers both technical and consulting matters. You will also have opportunities to work on a wide range of projects and to develop your softer skills.
