Hoare Lea, a leading building services consultancy, invites applications for a 2027 Graduate Public Health Engineer in Leeds. You’ll rotate through healthcare, hotels, retail and residential sectors, producing drainage and water service designs, and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.

The program emphasizes CPD, mentorship, and a path toward Chartership within a supportive, inclusive environment. You’ll join a large, client‑facing team and gain exposure to state‑of‑the‑art modelling

Qualifications

• IMechE/CIBSE accredited degree in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering.
• Masters or other relevant postgraduate qualification.
• Placement or work experience in a related industry.
• Understanding of CAD or similar modelling software.

Responsabilités

• Produce detailed designs and drawings for drainage systems and water services.
• Tailor specifications, calculations and reports for projects.
• Utilise CAD/Revit for modelling and documentation.
• Work with Mechanical/Electrical teams and specialists (Acoustics, Lighting, Sustainability).
• Participate in CPD and learning opportunities.
• Collaborate with project teams and clients throughout design stages.

The Role

Being part of one of the UK’s largest building engineering consultancies, we benefit from collaborating with some of the best engineers in the business, with access to state-of-the-art technical support, and have the opportunity to work on some of the largest and most high-profile projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

As a Graduate Public Health Engineer, your day-to-day tasks will vary, as we’ll expose you to all aspects of our work so you can discover what suits you. You could be;

• In a variety of sectors from healthcare to hotels, retail to residential
• Producing detailed designs and drawings for above and below ground drainage systems and hot and cold-water services to standard, budget and deadline
• Tailoring a comprehensive service of specifications, calculations and reports
• Using the latest computer modelling software CAD and Revit
• Work alongside our Mechanical/Electrical teams and specialist such as Acoustics, Lighting, Sustainability, Utility Infrastructure or Fire Engineering teams
• Continuous CPD and learning opportunities

Communicating will span all of these, as we regularly liaise with project teams, meet clients or end users, and attend collaborative meetings.

About you

To be successful in this role, you’ll need…

• An expected or achieved 2.1 or above IMechE or CIBSE accredited degree or equivalent qualification in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, or similar
• Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently
• A friendly, ambitious and confident individual with a flexible and resilient approach

A Masters or other relevant post graduate qualification

Previous placement or work experience in a similar industry

An understanding of CAD or similar modelling software
