EMBL-EBI and the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute form the Wellcome Genome Campus, enabling a vibrant international environment for research. The ESPOD postdoctoral programme offers projects combining experimental and computational approaches.
Applicants may choose from predefined projects or propose their own, with start dates in 2026 and a 12-month fellowship period. A 3-year project-based contract is offered at Hinxton, near Cambridge, UK, with relocation support for international applicants.

The EMBL-EBI-Sanger Postdoctoral (ESPOD) Programme builds on the strong collaborative relationship between the two institutes, offering projects which combine experimental (wet lab) and computational approaches.
Projects may be selected from pre-defined areas or proposed by the applicant. In the case of self-defined projects, the area of work must have been agreed with both EMBL-EBI and Sanger-based group leaders. The postdoctoral fellowships will be awarded in 2026, to start as soon as possible. The start date can be agreed with the supervisors. All ESPOD fellowships must be undertaken within 12 months of the fellowship being awarded.
