A community support service is looking for 2 Personal Assistants in Dunfermline to support a 19-year-old with autism. Responsibilities include ensuring safety during activities, assisting with personal care, and engaging in enjoyable pastimes. Experience with non-speaking individuals is preferable, though training will be provided. This role offers the chance to make a difference in an individual's life.
We are supporting a family in helping to recruit for 2 Personal Assistants to work together to support their 19 year old son to access activities in the community. He requires two to one support when out and about and enjoys, walking, eating out, side by side cycling and trampolining.
You will have a positive and flexible approach to work and previous experience of supporting non-speaking, autistic children or adults, who may display mild challenging behaviour, would be beneficial however not essential as full training on specific communication, understanding and communication aids will be ongoing.
You will be physically fit to be able to provide the level of support needed when undertaking activities and will actively plan time activities out of the home that incorporate his enjoyed activities of eating out, walks, and side by side cycling.
You will also be required to carry out some support with personal care as and when needed.
