A local educational institution in Carisbrooke is seeking a full-time Learning Support Assistant to support a student with High Needs on a bespoke timetable. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience working with SEND students and possess an NVQ L3 or equivalent. Responsibilities include assisting the student in educational and life skills activities within the community while ensuring their well-being and personal care. Commitment to safeguarding is essential, and an enhanced DBS check will be required.
Full‑time, 31.25 hours per week (Monday – Friday), term‑time only (38 weeks).
Within this role of Learning Support Assistant, you will support a student on a bespoke timetable on a 2:1 package. The curriculum is based largely within the community and the young person’s timetable includes a life‑skill and educational element throughout their day.
The student is able to communicate with some words but may at times also communicate through their behaviour. You will therefore need to use strategies to support them to regulate wherever and whenever this may happen.
The student enjoys a range of activities, including horse riding, swimming and visiting shops, as well as time in school practicing communication skills and interacting with others. This role involves some personal care.
We are committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and expect all our staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check is required for the successful applicant.
Please contact Jenny Holmes on recruitment@stgeorges.iow.sch.uk for further details.
Application forms are also available to download from the school website at www.stgeorges-school.co.uk.
Please note that we cannot accept CVs by way of application and any CV received will not be considered for the role.
