Go Modular Technologies (UK) Ltd in Southampton is seeking a skilled 1st Fix Carpenter to join our modular construction team. This role focuses on installing core timber elements during the structural phase of factory-based builds, contributing to high-quality, efficient off-site production.

The successful candidate will read technical drawings, work with timber frame components, and collaborate with adjacent trades in a controlled factory setting while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a 1st Fix Carpenter (ideally in modular/off-site construction).
• Strong understanding of timber frame construction methods.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately.
• Competence with a wide range of carpentry tools and machinery.
• Knowledge of health & safety standards in a factory or construction environment.
• Good attention to detail and ability to meet production targets.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and work from technical drawings, specifications, and cutting lists.
• Install floor joists, decking systems, wall framing and stud partitions.
• Install roof trusses and structural supports.
• Fit door linings, window frames, and stair carcasses.
• Install sheathing, plywood, and structural boards.
• Meet production targets with attention to quality and tolerances.
• Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
• Collaborate with electricians and plumbers during early-stage installations.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized work area per health & safety regulations.
• Identify and report defects or inconsistencies in materials or drawings.
