Job description

Our client, a long-established family-owned business with over 50 years’ experience in bulk earthworks and industrial site development, is seeking an experienced Diesel Fitter to join their Ipswich-based team.

In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a fleet of heavy machinery, including Dozers, Graders, Excavators, and Moxy Trucks. This is a hands‑on role within a small team where safety, efficiency, and flexibility are essential.

This position is permanent, based locally in Ipswich, and offers a company vehicle as well as opportunities for overtime on top of your salary. You will need to work safely, efficiently, and flexibly, handling a wide range of mechanical issues day‑to‑day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic, repair, and preventive maintenance on heavy machinery
  • Work on equipment including Dozers, Graders, Excavators, and Moxy Trucks
  • Use machining tools such as lathes and milling machines for repairs
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure safe and efficient operations

Requirements:

  • Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade)
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems and mechanical components
  • Experience with CAT mobile plant equipment (D6, D7, D8, 730, 740, 615, 623)
  • Own tools required; HR Truck licence is desirable
  • Proficient with machining tools (lathes, milling machines)
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team
  • Contactable references from past supervisors
