Bioresearch & Veterinary Services (BVS)

Full time: 35 Hours per week

Open-ended: Permanent Contract

The Opportunity

We are recruiting an enthusiastic and talented person to join our Central Transgenic Core team. This technician post is a critical part of a small team that generates new models of human disease in rodent species. You will perform regulated procedural work to create gene edited and genetically-modified animals to feed into our internationally-recognised research programmes. Associated activities include in vitro fertilisation, cryopreservation, embryo transfer, colony management and data recording. Full training will be given, but a background in transgenic animal production and husbandry is an advantage.

The science of genome editing is a rapidly changing field, and the Core is keen to adopt new ideas, techniques and processes that enable cutting‑edge research. We also perform research into optimising and extending current knowledge so that animal use in scientific research is reduced, refined and replaced wherever possible. If you have natural curiosity, a willingness to learn and are good with your hands please consider this post.

This post is full‑time (35 hours per week); full time on‑campus.

The salary for this post is between £29,588 to £33,951 per annum.
