A governmental department in the UK is offering a position for a Senior Psychologist to lead the Women's Estate Psychology Service at Drake Hall. The role involves working alongside prison management, supervising trainees, and maintaining a clinical caseload to enhance safety within women's prisons. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 18 months post-registration experience, with a requirement of two years to formally take on the position. This opportunity supports the mental health needs of women transitioning back into the community.
This is a great opportunity to join the Drake Hall team as a senior psychologist, with the primary responsibilities of working alongside the prison SMT and leading the Drake Hall Women’s Estate Psychology Service (WEPS) team, whilst also maintaining a clinical caseload undertaking work aimed at reducing risk and increasing safety. The work of WEPS spans core forensic work as well as a broad range of safety-related work within women’s prisons, and as women transition back into the community. In addition to Parole and sentence planning related work, safety work is a key component of the role at any women’s prison. WEPS adopt a collaborative, strength-based approach, utilising psychological formulation and multiagency working to support the needs of both staff and women in custody. The team at Drake Hall currently consists of three forensic psychologists in training and a registered psychologist, however there is currently a gap for a site-based lead psychologist who would be welcomed by both WEPS and the local operational leadership team.
