Female Part Time Personal/Domestic Care Assistant Required

I am a 61‑year‑old disabled woman, who has a young attitude to life, and need assistance with all aspects of daily living. It includes all personal care, meal preparation, cooking, domestic duties, and anything concerning the household. It also includes socialising with you to places like the theatre, concerts, going for a meal or generally just getting out and about. I live in my own home and am accustomed to organising the assistance I need. As my Personal Assistant, your job will be to provide the personal and domestic assistance I need to enable me to live in the way that I want to. I need someone trustworthy and able to work flexible hours, to give my assistance. They must also be able to respect my privacy and understand the need for confidentiality in all areas of her work.

It is the job of the Personal Assistant to assist me in all areas of personal such as bathing, toileting, feeding me and helping me to take pride of myself, so it is very important that personal hygiene is a must for both me and my Personal Assistant. Due to this, I am looking for a female Care, The Health and Social Care Act and the Equality Act 2010. Also, my hair, make‑up and presentation are very important to me so it would be ideal if the Personal Assistant was able to do this for me. By assisting, at the right time, I can lead an independent lifestyle in the community. The Personal Assistant should understand their role in facilitating the self‑defined needs of myself and should feel confident to ask what my needs are and to always listen to requests and directions given.

Main Duties
  • To ensure safety, comfort, and well‑being always, as you would with a loved one.
  • To assist with all aspects of personal care E.g. washing, bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting etc.
  • Having my Hair, make‑up and presentation are very important to me.
  • To undertake and assist with household tasks, laundry, cleaning and dusting of rooms, furniture, fitments and other, household maintenance. Making and changing
  • Assistance with shopping and other associated tasks.
  • Preparing and cooking meals.
  • To assist with getting to, and taking part, in various social activities, appointments etc.
  • To carry out other duties or activities connected with the role which the employer’s may reasonably request.

Qualifications and experience are not necessary, however, a willingness to learn and the desire to make a positive contribution to the individual’s life is vital.

Keys Of Employment
  • As far as possible resolve any questions regarding the task prior to beginning work.
  • Arrive at the agreed time ready to work and give notification if you are going to be more than ten minutes late.
  • It is important to establish a close working relationship when working on a one‑to‑one basis. If any problems arise, it is important to discuss and resolve them as soon as possible. Be as open in your communications as possible.
  • Confidentiality: respect the privacy of the Employer; many problems can arise from casual conversation about the support and assistance you may give. Try to always maintain a professional approach.
  • Attitude: appreciate the stresses and strains involved for the Employer and the effect this can have on the acceptance of support. Understand that the preservation of dignity and independence is paramount.
  • Respect the possessions and equipment in the Employers home. Use of the telephone, television, radio etc., should only be with prior consent. Personal Assistants should also respect the relationships of the Employer with other household members and visitors. Joining in at social occasions/appointments should only be at the invitation of the Employer.
  • Applicants must be enthusiastic and motivated to provide full assistance and support with all aspects of care, including personal care, to help assist him and achieve independent living.
  • Experience is not essential.
  • Be able to assist with transfers using a hoist which can be shown how to use e.g. from bed to wheelchair etc.
  • Be expected to cover each other absences
  • Mobile Phones only to be used in an emergency,
  • Understand the confidential nature of the work.
  • Be able to take instructions and at times work on your own initiative, once you are knowing the routine.
  • Committed and dedicated to helping and improving another’s life. It is expected that all employer’s possessions will be treated with care, avoidable damage may be charged for.
  • Smoking whilst working is not permitted.
Rate of Pay and Hours

89 Hours in a 4 Weekly Rota – It involves Weekends and overnights.

£12.21 per Hour.

Payments will be made every 4 weeks, on a Monday, in arrears.

Holidays: You are entitled to 5.6 weeks of holiday pro rata, based on the hours that you work each week. Details of your holiday entitlement are outlined in the employee contract.

Special Conditions

The post is subject to a 6‑month probationary period, and satisfactory references, which will be fully checked.
