GSL Education are currently appointing 1:1 Teaching Assistants to join schools in the Wakefield area, providing personalised support to pupils with additional learning needs.

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with individual students to help them access the curriculum, develop skills, and gain confidence in their learning. Your role will be essential in creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils on a one-to-one basis to complete classwork and tasks.
• Assist with personalised learning plans tailored to individual needs.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and social skills development.
• Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure a cohesive approach.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Maintain a positive and organised classroom atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting.
• Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to the individual needs of each student.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
• Professionalism and a strong understanding of safeguarding procedures.
