Job summary

A leading educational support organization in Manchester is seeking a KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant dedicated to supporting children with special educational needs. You will work closely with teachers to provide tailored support and create an inclusive classroom environment. Qualifications

About the Role

As a KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with special educational needs. You'll help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where every child can thrive and develop at their own pace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs, including communication, social, and emotional difficulties.
  • Support pupils with classwork, interventions, and learning activities.
  • Promote independence and positive behaviour through encouragement and consistency.
  • Work closely with teachers and other professionals to implement learning plans.
  • Maintain accurate observations and contribute to progress reviews.
  • Follow safeguarding, behaviour, and inclusion policies at all times.
Requirements
  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting children with SEN, ideally in KS1 or primary settings.
  • Strong communication, patience, and empathy.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
