1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Sheffield

Are you a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant looking for flexible, ongoing work in Sheffield?

Academics are working with a number of mainstream primary and secondary schools across the area, seeking supportive and nurturing staff to work on a 1:1 basis with pupils who require additional support.

Position: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire

Contract: Temporary, flexible ongoing positions

Pay: £88.94 - £100 per day (dependent on experience, paid via PAYE - no umbrella company fees)

Start Date: ASAP or from a start date that suits you

About the Role

As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with additional needs within mainstream classroom settings. Needs may include autism, communication difficulties, social and emotional needs, sensory differences, and learning delays.

You will work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to ensure the pupil is fully included in the school environment, helping them to access learning, build confidence, regulate emotions, and achieve individual targets.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with SEN and who enjoys working in mainstream education.

Key Responsibilities

Candidate Requirements
  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (minimum)
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN
  • Confidence supporting pupils within mainstream classrooms
  • Understanding of autism, communication needs, SEMH, or sensory differences
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
