Job description

We have partnered with a reputable junior school near Basingstoke who are now looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their team within a year 3 class. This school is very supportive and has a wonderful ethos where children feel heard so they can reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities for the Teaching Assistant
  • Provide dedicated, one-on‑one support to a year 3 student, assisting with their academic, social, and emotional needs.
  • Support the student in accessing the curriculum by offering tailored help in specific subjects or tasks, ensuring their full participation in lessons.
  • Monitor and record the student’s progress, providing feedback to the class teacher.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of personalised learning plans (IEPs or support plans) in collaboration with the teacher and SENCO.
  • Support the student with any behavioural or emotional challenges they may face during lessons and throughout the school day.
  • Assist with the student’s general well‑being and help foster their confidence and independence.
  • Attend team meetings and training sessions to continuously develop your skills and knowledge.
Key Skills and Attributes
  • Previous experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs, is highly desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to working with children.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with both students and staff.
