Job summary

Senploy is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Primary Teaching Assistant to support a KS1 child with ASD in Newham. The role focuses on developing communication, engagement, and early literacy through phonics-based activities and structured routines.

You will implement Now & Next boards, timetables, and PECS to aid learning, while supporting social and emotional development and personal care as needed. The position is full-time and long-term until the end of the academic year, with potential extension.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children with ASD and complex needs.
• Confident using visual supports (Now & Next boards, visual timetables, PECS).
• Understanding of Phonics in early literacy development.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support for a KS1 child with ASD who is pre-verbal.

A warm and supportive Primary School in Newham is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a KS1 child with Autism (ASD). This is a full-time role starting ASAP until end of academic year

The Role

• Providing 1:1 support for a KS1 child with ASD who is pre-verbal
• Supporting communication and engagement through Now & Next boards, visual aids, and structured routines
• Assisting with Phonics-based activities and early learning tasks
• Supporting the child's social and emotional development
• Providing personal care when required
• Working closely with the SENCO, class teacher, and external specialists

Requirements

• Previous experience supporting children with ASD and complex needs
• Confidence using visual supports (Now & Next boards, visual timetables, PECS, etc.)
• Understanding of Phonics in early literacy development
• Patient, nurturing, and able to build trust and consistency
• Comfortable supporting with personal care
