Position: 1:1 Learning Support Assistant

Location: Thame

Contract: Full-Time

Daily Rate: £90 - £120 per day

Start Date: January 2026

Role Overview: We are working with a supportive school in Thame seeking a dedicated and experienced 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to provide personalised support to a pupil with additional needs. This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference by helping the student engage fully with their learning and develop independence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored, one-to-one support to a pupil with special educational needs throughout the school day
  • Assist the pupil in accessing the curriculum, adapting resources as necessary
  • Support the pupil with communication, behaviour management, and social interaction
  • Work closely with teaching staff and SEN coordinators to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans
  • Encourage the development of life skills, confidence, and self-esteem
  • Monitor and report on the pupil's progress and wellbeing
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and nurturing environment
Ideal Candidate
  • Experience supporting children with SEN in a 1:1 setting, preferably within a school environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build trusting relationships with pupils
  • Calm, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting a range of needs
  • Familiarity with behaviour management and positive support strategies
