Offer Description

The project is part of the ANR BIRD – Photoinduced Doping in Hexagonal Boron Nitride for Deep UVC Applications.
The postdoctoral researcher will work on ab initio modeling to understand, at the atomic scale, the origin of the persistent photoconductivity observed in hBN, and to design or guide the growth of the material in order to maximize this photo-induced doping effect.

The postdoctoral researcher will carry out ab initio calculations using Quantum ESPRESSO/ EPW,/YAMBO/VASP on hBN supercells containing various defects, in order to evaluate their formation energies, electron–phonon couplings, and optical properties, and to identify those responsible for persistent photoconductivity, in close connection with UVC spectral characterization made by the partners of the project.
The researcher will prepare scientific publications, participate in group activities (seminars, working groups, etc.), and attend international conferences.

The work will be carried out in Paris, at the Laboratoire de Physique de l'École Normale Supérieure (LPENS), a joint research unit of École Normale Supérieure, CNRS, Sorbonne Université, and Université Paris Cité.
The project is part of the ANR BIRD – Photoinduced Doping in Hexagonal Boron Nitride for Deep UVC Applications (ANR-24-CE08-3820)

The candidate must hold a PhD in physics, chemistry, or materials science.
Skills in theoretical modeling (ab initio, DF(P)T, GW) will be appreciated.
The candidate will work in a collaborative environment and should demonstrate strong teamwork abilities as well as a high degree of autonomy.
